Members of the Kiwanis Club of Merrillville have been devoting much of their free time, talent, energy, and resources to help make their community, state, and world a better place for children. The Kiwanis Worldwide Service project to eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorders has reached millions of children. Riley Hospital in Indianapolis has built a helicopter pad due to Kiwanis donations. Locally, our club has given a scholarship to a Merrillville High School senior, donated to Merrillville High School’s Key Club and STAND (Socially Together/Naturally Diverse), contributed to the Boy and Girl Scouts, provided funds for Merrillville elementary student’s Embryology project and Dictionary project, Meals on Wheels, and 4-H Leadership Training. Children are our number one priority! We would like to do much more. Our major fundraiser is selling peanuts. All, yes, 100%, of the proceeds of Kiwanis Peanut Day sales, after the cost of the peanuts, goes directly into community needs. Won’t you please help us? The cost of a box of peanuts is $35.00; the cost of a 16 ounce tin of cashews is $20.00; and the cost of a 12 ounce of Honey Roasted Peanuts is $6.00. Your check can be made out to Kiwanis Club of Merrillville. Send it to Kiwanis Club of Merrillville P. O. Box 10143 Merrillville, Indiana 46411 We meet every Thursday at Noon at the Old Country Buffet; please feel free to join us at your convenience. Thank you for your consideration! |
